Volume #24, Issue #6
1997. It was a great year for music. No, the Grateful Dead didn't resurface and fill the chasm. But the musical tide came in and we rode the wave for all it was worth! We gathered, we listened, we danced and we smiled. And we came away thankful for the burgeoning music scene that has emerged from the smoldering embers that we continue to nurture, thankful to all of the veteran musicians that still find relevance in playing for us.
I've anticipated the arrival of 1998 for a long time. It marks the 25th anniversary of Relix magazine and I'm always looking for an excuse to party! So, when the clock strikes midnight of December 31st, thus bringing 1997 to a close, my smile is gonna light up the sky. A silver anniversary and we're ready to shine.
We are planning many celebrations next year. Dates scheduled so far include April 17th at Maritime Hall in San Francisco and August 8th and 9th at Big Boulder Resorts, Poconos, Pennsylvania. Look for us-we're taking the party on the road. Subscribers will be advised of upcoming events in their areas.
I want to thank all the folks out there for their continued support. You're part of the magic.
All of us at Relix wish you a holiday filled with love, peace and happiness. Let there be songs to fill the air.
With love, always,
Toni A. Brown, Publisher
